Spent $1,200 on a website redesign that tanked my leads for 3 months

Back in March I hired a local agency to redo my pest control website. They promised it would look modern and rank higher. It looked nice but I lost my old pages that had good reviews and local landing pages. My phone stopped ringing for about 12 weeks before I figured out what went wrong. The agency never set up proper redirects from the old site. Has anyone else had an agency screw up their old SEO work like this?

Dude that is brutal. A thousand bucks down the drain AND three months of dead leads? That's a nightmare. You would think any half decent agency would know redirects are like step one of moving a site. They probably just dropped your old content in the trash and called it a day. Seriously hope you got some of your money back or at least left them a nasty review.

A thousand bucks is basically the cost of learning that lesson though.

Wait, did they at least give you the database or a backup of the old site files so you could try to fix it yourself, or did they just ghost you after the money was gone? Cause if they locked you out of your own stuff on top of everything else, that's a whole different level of shady. I'm trying to figure out if this is just an incompetent amateur mistake or if they were really just a straight up scam operation from the start. Like, who sends someone a "finished" site without even checking if the old links work unless they know you won't be able to get a refund?
