Am I the only one who used a zip tie to hold a flap actuator rod in place during a rigging check?
Tbh, I was doing a preflight on a Cessna 172 in Denver and the rod kept slipping out of the jig. I looped a small zip tie around it just to keep it steady while I got the bolts started and it worked perfectly. Has anyone else found a simple trick like this for rigging?

Been there. A dab of masking tape on the rod end works too, just to give it some grip in the jig. Sometimes you just need that third hand. A small piece of safety wire twisted into a hook can also hold tension while you get things lined up. Whatever gets the job done without leaving anything behind.

Is all that extra stuff really needed? I mean, it's just a rod in a jig, right? Maybe it's just me but I feel like people overcomplicate simple tasks. You can usually just hold it with your fingers if you take a second to set it up. All that tape and wire seems like a fix for a problem that isn't really there.
