Spent 6 hours tracking a bleed air leak that was right in front of me the whole time
I was working on a CRJ200 last Tuesday with a bleed air pressure drop issue. The gauges were showing low pressure in the right system and I figured it was a bad valve or a cracked line somewhere in the nacelle. I pulled panels, ran soap tests with a spray bottle, and even borrowed a thermal imager to check for hot spots. After about 5 hours of crawling around and getting frustrated, I decided to double check the simplest thing first. Turns out the precooler control valve had a loose clamp that let a hose slip off just a tiny bit. Another mechanic spotted it from the ground while I was up on the stand. I felt pretty dumb but got it fixed in 20 minutes after that. Has anyone else had a simple fix take way longer than it should have because you were looking past the obvious?

Did you at least break the soap bottle and get it all over your coveralls?
