Granite countertop installer ghosted after taking my deposit in Red Deer

Paid $1,800 up front for quartz install in my rental flip, guy said two weeks then stopped answering. Took another contractor three visits just to rip out the bad seams and level the base. Anyone else getting burned by deposit-takers this season, or is it just central Alberta?
