Warning: spent $90 on the 'self leveling' compound that wasn't, now my laundry floor slopes
Tried to fix a dip in my laundry room floor off Gibson last month and grabbed a bag of Henry 555 because the label said self leveling. Poured it and watched it just sit there in a lump, so I ended up spreading it by hand with a trowel and now the whole floor pitches toward the drain about half an inch. Turns out you gotta mix it way wetter than the bag says and use a spiked roller, which I didn't have. Anyone got a brand that actually flows flat, or am I better off just pulling up the plywood and starting over?
Made the same mistake my first time, dumped a bag of LevelQuik in a bathroom and it just sat there like pancake batter that gave up on life. You need the extra water and a spiked roller, otherwise it never finds its own level no matter what the bag promises. Half an inch of pitch toward a drain is a lot though, so pulling the plywood and resetting it is probably your cleanest fix at this point. Troweling it flat by hand works for tiny dips, but once it cures wrong you can't really float it back level.
