Harness tape trick saved a 2am snag in Tulsa

Last week we had a King Air come in with chafed wiring behind the avionics rack. Used a section of self-fusing silicone tape instead of the standard friction stuff. It held shape better around the bundle and we were wheels-up by 4am. Anyone else using that tape for tight spots, or sticking with the old school lacing cord?
