My chocolate chip cookies were always flat until I switched from melted butter to cold cubes

I used the cold butter and creamed it with the sugar for a full five minutes, and they finally came out thick and chewy. Anyone have a good tip for when you only have salted butter on hand?

Oh man, my buddy just cut the salt in his recipe by half and it worked fine.

That's a solid tip from @the_hannah about cutting the salt in half. I'm curious though, does that work for every type of cookie? Like, my go-to recipe is for these big bakery style ones, and I worry messing with the salt balance might throw off the whole flavor. What kind of cookies was your buddy making when that worked?

Honestly, with those big bakery style cookies, I'd be careful. Tbh I tried cutting salt in half on a similar recipe once and they tasted kinda flat. What worked for me was just using a quarter teaspoon less than the recipe said, it kept the balance better.
