Overheard a kid call clippers 'old looking' the other day

I was cutting this teenager's hair yesterday and he asked why my clippers looked 'so old school'. I'm still using a pair of Osters from 1998 that I got from my uncle. They just work, you know? Not changing for something with a USB port. Anyone else still rocking vintage clippers in their chair?

Wait, you got that thing in 1998 and it's still going strong without a single repair? I had a buddy who swore by his Osters from the 80s and they only finally died on him a couple years ago. That's wild, but honestly the plastic junk they sell now wouldn't last a decade in a busy barbershop.

Those old Osters are built like tanks. New stuff is plastic and breaks in a year. The kid doesn't know what he's talking about, he's just used to everything looking like a toy. Your clippers have history and they still cut hair fine, that's more than you can say for half the new gear out there. Keep using what works.
