Used to carry a whole repair kit on my 9 mile ride to work, now I just carry a $3 bus card and zero regrets

The "$3 bus card" part is what gets me because that is the whole point right there. You figured out the bus exists and it costs less than a tube and a patch kit. Fixing a flat on the side of the road in the rain is not some badge of honor, it just stinks. I carried a whole bag of junk for years and used it maybe twice. The bus shows up, you sit down, you get to work. That is not reckless, that is just being smart with your time.
