Paid off my car loan 14 months early using a separate bank account trick

Used to just have one checking account and whatever was left at the end of the month went to extra car payments. That never worked, always found an excuse. In March I opened a second savings account at a different bank and set up an auto transfer of $120 every payday, right after my direct deposit landed. I didn't even look at my main balance for the first 3 months. Just made my final payment to the credit union on Tuesday, and seeing that zero balance on the app felt way better than any shopping spree. Anyone else tried the separate account method for a big goal, or did you just throw everything at it at once?
