That one week in July where my grocery budget actually worked out

I planned out all my meals for the week and stuck to the list I made for a change. Ended up spending $62 total at the local IGA and had zero food waste by Sunday night. Has anyone else had a week where their planning actually paid off this well?

Man that's a great feeling when everything clicks like that. The no food waste part is almost better than saving money, knowing you didn't throw anything out just feels right. I had a week back in March where I did similar, actually wrote down every single ingredient I needed and refused to buy anything extra at the store. Came out to about $55 at my local grocery and I was shocked because usually I blow past $80 easy. The key for me was cooking two big meals that reused the same ingredients, like a roasted chicken that turned into soup later and then sandwiches. But then the next week I got lazy and blew $90 on takeout, so it never lasts. Still, that one perfect week keeps me trying to get back there again.

Oh man, that's a solid win. I had a similar thing last month where I actually followed my meal plan for a whole week and it felt amazing. The trick for me was prepping veggies on Sunday so I didn't have any excuse to skip cooking. I spent about $50 at Aldi and used up everything including the random half bag of spinach that usually goes bad. But I gotta say, your $62 at IGA is impressive since that store is usually pricier than Aldi or Walmart. Still, nice job sticking to the list.
