I keep seeing new guys skip the test fit on face frames before glue-up, and it's causing gaps. My foreman in Milwaukee always said 'glue is not a clamp'.

Yeah, that's a solid rule. The guy who taught me cabinetry would walk by and just tap a dry fit joint with his knuckle. If it moved at all, you had to redo it before you even looked at the glue bottle. It forces you to fix the real problem.

My old shop teacher in Toledo used to make us dry-fit every joint three times. He'd say if you can't get it tight without glue, adding glue just makes a bigger mess. That stuck with me.
