Bought a $220 track saw from a pawn shop, it worked for exactly 3 cuts

Last month I found a barely used track saw at a pawn shop off Route 9. The price was half of what a new one goes for, so I grabbed it without testing it. Got it home, set up a straight line on some plywood, and it cut great for two passes. On the third cut the blade seized up and the motor started smoking, dead right there. The pawn shop said no returns on power tools, so now I'm out $220 and a weekend of work. Has anyone else gotten burned buying used gear from pawn shops, or did I just pick the one bad apple?

Always test it before you hand over cash. Lesson learned.
