Pro tip: That expensive ceramic coating for brushes is pure hype

I dropped $60 on a set of coated brushes last spring and they're already frayed worse than my old $12 hardware store ones. Anyone else find the coatings peel off after a few months of real use?

It's the same with a lot of those expensive kitchen gadgets too, like those fancy non-stick pans that claim to last forever but start peeling after six months. People get caught up in the marketing and forget that sometimes the basic stuff works just fine if you treat it right. This whole coating thing for brushes is just another way to sell you something you don't really need, when all you gotta do is dry them off and not let them soak.

Read somewhere that most of those coatings are basically just Teflon or silicone and they break down with heat and friction. Not surprised yours started peeling, that seems to be the common story online when you dig past the marketing. I almost fell for it myself but then I watched a video where a guy tested a coated brush side by side with a cheap one and it was basically a wash after a few washes. The real game changer is just not leaving them wet and cleaning them properly with mild soap, not some fancy coating. Feels like a solution looking for a problem tbh.
