Tried the spinning brush vs old school hand brush for soot dust - huge difference
I've been sweeping chimneys for about 8 years now, and I finally got tired of the cloud of soot every time I used my old hand brush. So last month I bought a spinning brush attachment for my drill from Grainger for like $60. First job I used it on was a regular wood burner in an old house near me. The spinning brush knocked the loose soot down way faster, and I swear I had maybe half the dust floating around compared to normal. I still had to hand brush the tight spots at the top, but the bulk of the work went from 45 minutes to about 20 minutes per flue. Has anyone else tried one of these and noticed a big difference in cleanup time versus the old way?

@olivia554 Yep, Grainger's where I got mine. But honestly I'm a little skeptical about how much faster it really is. I mean, you still have to hand brush the top section and the corners no matter what. I got one from a different brand last year and it cut maybe 10 minutes off my time, not 25. Plus the soot cloud thing depends a lot on how dry the creosote is.
