Why I finally ditched my gas lawn mower for a reel mower in Phoenix

I used to think electric or reel mowers were for people with tiny yards and too much time, but my 1/4 acre bermuda grass lawn was roasting me every Saturday morning at 110 degrees. Last May I watched my neighbor push a manual reel mower across his yard in 20 minutes flat, no noise, no fumes, and the grass looked cleaner than what my Craftsman gas mower was doing. Now I'm wondering if anyone else here switched tools mainly for heat and air quality reasons, or did you have a different breaking point that pushed you over?

Man, I feel this in my BONES. I switched after I nearly passed out pushing my gas mower up a hill in August, and my neighbor handed me a cold water bottle and pointed at his reel mower like some kind of grass cult leader. I lasted exactly one more weekend before I gave in, and now the only thing I regret is that I look like a total dork pushing it around, but at least I'm a dork who can breathe. Also, my bermuda has NEVER looked sharper, which is honestly a little embarrassing considering how cheap the mower was.
