Forget coolant changes for 8 months and saw what happened

I skipped swapping my coolant for like 8 months straight on my Haas VF-2 at the shop in Detroit. Yesterday I finally drained it and the stuff looked like chocolate milk mixed with glitter from all the swarf settling. Anyone else ever push coolant maintenance way too long and regret it?

e you're actually better off leaving that coolant in longer than the manual says. those coolants are designed with enough inhibitors and biocides to easily go 12 months if you're just topping off with water or fresh mix along the way. what you saw was probably just some staining from tramp oil and normal wear, not some catastrophic failure scenario.
