Thinning shears vs texturizing shears - do you see a real difference in the finished cut?

Did you ever see that video where a stylist accidentally used thinning shears instead of texturizing on a friend's hair? It looked totally fine from the front but the back was all choppy and weird, like someone hacked at it with garden scissors. Took months to grow out even.
