TIL you can fix brassy roots without a full redo, took me 3 tries to get it right
I always thought once a client's color went brassy at the roots, the whole head had to be redone. Last month a regular came in with about 2 inches of orange showing and I panicked. I tried a toner first, and it went muddy after 2 washes. Second try I did a root shadow, still not quite right. Third time I mixed a blue based demi with a 10 volume and just painted the new growth, left it 15 minutes, and it blended perfectly. Whole thing took 40 minutes instead of the 2 hour full redo I was about to book. Now I'm wondering how many other services I've been overdoing this whole time, has anyone else switched to spot treating instead of full redos?
