Feedback on my dialogue made me cut half my adverbs

A beta reader told me my characters sounded like they were 'describing a weather report' because every line had an adverb attached. I went back through a 3,000 word scene and cut about 40 'ly' words, replacing them with stronger verbs and body language. It reads so much faster now, and the characters actually feel like they have personalities instead of just narrating. Has anyone else gotten a critique that forced you to rework a specific habit like that?
