Lost $120 on a fake password manager premium code

Found a deal on Craigslist for a lifetime Bitwarden premium key for like $40... seemed too good but I bit. Turns out it was just a stolen account that got revoked after 3 weeks. Support said they can't do anything because it was a third party purchase. Has anyone else fallen for those discounted license codes around?

Man that sucks but honestly Craigslist for ANY software is asking for trouble. Those lifetime keys are almost always stolen or generated with stolen credit cards. Bitwarden premium is like $10 a YEAR which is basically nothing for what you get. Kinda feels like people forget that legit pricing exists and just chase the "deal" because it looks cheap upfront. Hopefully this is just a $120 lesson in sticking to official sources.

Yeah but did they even check if the key worked before paying?
