Why does nobody talk about how easy it is to reuse a password for 10 years

I finally changed my main email password last week after using the same one since 2014. What got me was a coworker showing me how quickly a data breach lookup on his phone pulled up my old info from a site I forgot about. Anyone else just stick with one password until something bad almost happens?

Ngl that breach lookup sites are a wake up call, get a password manager.

Yeah but be real, how many people actually stick with the password manager after the first week? I downloaded one, got annoyed with the autofill not working on certain sites, and went right back to my old habits. The breach lookup thing scared me straight for about a day. Then I just changed my password to something similar and called it good. Does knowing your info is out there actually change your behavior long term, or is it just a quick panic and then back to normal?
