TIL that a 20 minute injector job turned into 6 hours because of one stuck line nut
Spent all of Tuesday fighting a seized return line nut on a 6.7 Cummins in my shop near Amarillo, and a flare wrench and PB blaster did nothing. Ended up cutting the line and making a new one, has anyone found a trick that actually gets those loose without wrecking the fitting?
A stuck nut turning a 20 minute job into 6 hours sounds more like a bad day than some kind of rare nightmare. Anybody who has wrenched on a rusty truck knows a frozen line nut is just part of the deal, not some mystery you need a secret trick for. Heat is your friend here, a little torch on the fitting and it usually breaks free, but sometimes they are just too far gone and cutting is the right call. Doing it right by making a new line beats rounding off the flats and making it worse. Stuff seizes, metal rusts, that is just how it goes.
