Ruptured my first lacquer disc after 4 hours of cutting

Was cutting a 12" lacquer for a friend's band at 2am in my garage and the groove started skipping halfway through side B. Turns out I had the stylus heat too high and it melted the lacquer from the inside out. Has anyone else dealt with heat warping on the Scully lathe?

Ngl, that's a brutal lesson to learn at 2am. Heat's no joke on those Scullys.

But that's how you learn with these old lathes, you have to push them to see where the limits really are.
