Drafting table vs standing desk - which one actually works better for long sessions?
I was at a job site in Nashville last month and this old-timer drafter told me he switched to a standing desk after 20 years at a drafting table because his back couldn't take it anymore. But then another guy there said standing all day killed his knees and he went back to sitting. I've been using a traditional drafting table for 5 years now and my lower back is starting to ache after 6 hour sessions. Anyone here made the switch and regretted it or loved it?

Man people overthink this way too much. It's just a desk. I've been at my drafting table for 12 years now and yeah my back hurts sometimes but that's life when you sit in one spot for hours on end. Standing desks aren't some magic fix for your body falling apart. You still have to move around regardless of what you're using. The real problem is people don't take breaks or stretch or do anything to take care of themselves. If you're worried about your back just stand up and walk around for five minutes every hour. Doesn't matter if it's a drafting table or a cardboard box you're working on.

I mean honestly I switched to a standing desk about two years ago and it helped my back a ton, but I had to add an anti-fatigue mat and actually make myself sit down for a bit every couple hours.
