Went to a construction trade show and saw AI doing takeoffs live

Last week I stopped by the Dallas builders expo, mostly for free coffee. But one booth had software scanning blueprint PDFs and spitting out material counts in maybe 20 seconds. I do fencing estimates by hand on graph paper, takes me an hour for a decent sized job. The AI flagged door schedules and window openings I wouldve missed on a resi reno. Has anyone else seen these estimating tools actually hold up on real project specs, or is it still demo magic?
