Yikes, that's a scary thing to hear. I once saw a mechanic pencil-whip an annual inspection in about twenty minutes flat. Makes you wonder what actually gets checked.

Pencil-whip" is the perfect term for it. Reminds me of a guy who bought a plane where the logbooks looked great, but @hart.parker, the engine mounts were held together with zip ties.
