Question about the gray-haired inspector who told me my torque marks looked like a kindergartner did them
I was marking fasteners with a paint pen in big fat stripes, and he said the marks need to be thin enough that a re-torque check actually shows movement, not just a smear. Now I draw a skinny line across the nut and the part with a fine tip marker, and honestly it takes me 5 extra minutes per panel but I have not had a comeback. What do you all use for your marks, paint pen or something else?
Yeah the skinny line thing is real, I switched to a fine tip paint pen after getting the same speech and it's night and day on re-checks. Fat stripes just turn into a blob and you can't tell if anything moved. Five extra minutes beats a comeback every time.
