A guy in Reno showed me to run my zone wires in the same color order at every panel and it saved me hours
Honestly I used to just grab whatever wire was closest when I was landing zones and it bit me on a 22 zone job in Carson City last month. I was back at that panel three times tracing which red went to which door because nothing matched the paper. A guy I work with named Daryl watched me fuss with it and said he always runs his zones in the same color order at every single can, red then black then green then white, repeating the pattern no matter what. I tried it on the next house and when I had to add a motion two days later I already knew which pair to grab without pulling out the toner. It sounds dumb simple but it took my callback time on that panel from like 30 minutes down to 5. Now I keep a sharpie in my pouch and number the wires too, just to be safe. Has anyone else got a dumb little habit like that that ends up saving your butt on service calls?
