After messing up a sensor placement, I started taking short breaks

I was in a rush and put a motion sensor in the wrong spot, which caused a false alarm. Now, I force myself to pause for two minutes every hour during an install. I just step outside, take a few deep breaths, and check my plan. It has made a huge difference in my accuracy and stress levels. Try it next time you feel overwhelmed on a job.

Extend those breaks for bigger tasks to stay sharp.

Honestly, the break itself is good, but what you do in it matters more. I used to just scroll on my phone and came back more scattered. Now I use that time to physically touch the tools or parts for the next step. Like, if I'm wiring a panel next, I'll just hold the screwdriver and trace the wire path with my finger. It sounds silly, but that quick, hands-on reset makes the next hour of work flow way better. It's like a mental handoff.

Totally agree with @sarah_harris, that physical prep is key. I even lay out the next few parts in order so my brain can just click into gear.
