That $140 keypad cover I bought for outdoor panels barely lasted a season

I thought the expensive sealed cover would protect my customer's driveway keypad from the salt air near Galveston, but it cracked by March. My old cheap plastic housing with a bead of silicone is still holding up three years later. Anyone else find the fancy stuff isn't worth it for coastal installs?
