The guy at the supply counter in Mesa swears potted panels beat wall mounts, and I think he's wrong
Stopped by a supply counter in Mesa last Tuesday and the guy behind the register kept pushing me toward a potted can instead of a standard wall mount for a garage job. He kept going on about moisture killing boards and how potting is the only real fix for our summers. Tbh I've installed over 200 wall-mounted panels in this valley and maybe 3 ever had a moisture issue, and two of those were from a sprinkler hitting the box directly. Potting adds cost and you can't swap a board without scrapping the whole can, which costs the customer real money down the road. Curious if anyone here has actual numbers on failure rates by mount type, or is this just a counter guy thing?
