Laughed at the guy who swore by a cheap multimeter until my Fluke died on a call

I've been doing this 8 years and always rocked a Fluke 117. Last Tuesday my meter just went blank after I dropped it off a ladder. Had a cheap $30 Innova in the truck as a backup that I bought as a joke. Used it for a whole fridge compressor diagnostic and it read everything right. Even got the capacitor discharge beep. Made me question my whole $400 habit. Any of you keep a budget meter as a backup or am I the only one who got converted?

Honestly, I used to roll my eyes at guys who swore by cheap meters. But after my Fluke 117 crapped out on me mid-diagnosis and my backup $40 Amazon special saved the day, I get it now. Ngl, having a budget backup actually makes sense when your main tool decides to quit at the worst time.
