Changed my mind on the Cerne Abbas giant being old, that chalk test flipped it for me
Always figured that hill figure in Dorset was medieval or even just a Tudor joke, but the new optically stimulated luminescence dates put the oldest chalk at around 700 AD, maybe even late Roman. Seeing the before and after on the soil samples was wild, the lower layers were way older than anyone guessed. Anyone know if similar testing has been done on the Uffington white horse yet?
