I thought the free sample guy at Costco was full of it about olive oil

Last month a sample guy in Tampa handed me a tiny cup and said the $18 bottle he was pouring would beat the $9 stuff I always grab, and I laughed walking away. He caught me circling back for a second cup and had me try both blind, and the cheap one tasted like nothing while his had this peppery kick that made me cough. So what food did you swear was a scam until somebody made you do a real side by side?
