Showerthought: a stranger in Denver asked me one question at a bus stop and it fixed my whole week
Three weeks ago I was sitting at a bus stop on Colfax in Denver after a rough morning. Missed my ride, no coffee, phone at 8 percent. A guy next to me, maybe 70, asked if I was waiting on the 15. I said yeah. He said he had been riding that same bus for 41 years and never once had a bad day because of it. Just small talk. But then he asked me what I was actually stressed about. I told him it was my first week at a new job and I felt like everyone there already knew everything. He laughed. He said he felt that way for 3 years at his shop and then one day a kid asked him how to fix a pump and he realized he knew plenty. The bus came, he got on, and I never got his name. I told that story at lunch to a coworker and she said almost the same thing happened to her. So here is my ask: what tiny thing did a stranger say to you that you still think about?
