The day I stopped arguing with my regulars about the jukebox picks
I work a dive bar in Austin, and for two years I had the same 3 guys trying to control the jukebox with country ballads every Friday night. Then one slow Tuesday, I put on a random 90s hip hop playlist just to break the silence. A couple of strangers started chatting with those regulars about the songs, and suddenly the whole vibe shifted. Now I mix genres on purpose, and the tip jar fills up about 40% more on those nights. It wasn't the music that was the problem, it was the ownership feeling. Has anyone else seen a small change like that turn their whole crowd around? What triggered it for you?
