Showerthought: the night of June 14 in my backyard was the clearest sky I've seen in 3 years and I only got 2 good shots
Had a rare stretch last week where the smoke from Canada finally cleared out of Ohio and I could actually see the Milky Way from my driveway. I set up my old Canon T3i on a tripod around 11pm and shot maybe 40 frames of the Rho Ophiuchi area before clouds rolled in at 2am. Out of all those frames only 2 came out sharp, mostly because I bumped the tripod during a lens swap like an idiot. Anyone else ever get one perfect transparent night and totally waste it?
Sounds like the sky gods gave you a little taste of glory just to yank it away. Bumping the tripod during a lens swap is a rookie move, but honestly we've all been there and it stings every time. Two sharp shots out of forty still beats a night of nothing but clouds, so at least you walked away with something.
