That $40 moon filter adapter actually fixed my blurry shots

I picked up a cheap adapter ring from a local camera shop in Portland last month because my telescope eyepiece kept wobbling when I attached my DSLR. The plastic threads stripped after about 8 uses, so I thought I wasted $40, but then I realized it was just a loose fit. I wrapped a bit of electrical tape around the ring and now everything holds firm, even at full zoom on Jupiter. It saved me from buying a $200 replacement tube. Anyone else had luck with budget adapters failing then getting patched up for free?
