I finally broke down and bought a $200 quickjack

Was fighting with floor jacks and jack stands for years under my old F-150. Got the 5000 model last month and it paid for itself in one weekend when I did a transmission pan swap in under 2 hours. Anyone else made the jump to a portable lift yet?

Respectfully, I'd rather spend that money on a good floor jack and keep using jack stands.

$2,800 for a quickjack is wild to me. I just priced out a decent 3-ton floor jack and a pair of good 6-ton stands for under $400 total, and that money left over buys a lot of beer and pizza for the garage. Plus, my stands don't need a power outlet or a flat concrete floor, I've used them on gravel and even a slightly cracked driveway without a second thought. Sure, the quickjack lifts the whole car at once, but I've been sliding under on stands for 20 years and my back is still fine, mostly. You do you, but I'll keep my $2,400 in my pocket and my tires off the ground the old-fashioned way.
