TIL the drop lot near the Port of Savannah taught me more about this whole business than any guide
I deliver mail in Savannah and my route takes me right past one of those big drop lots where they stage cars before they head to the port. Last Tuesday I had to sit there for 15 minutes waiting on a school bus, and I just watched. A guy with a clipboard was walking rows of cars, checking for damage on every single one before it moved, and I counted 12 cars that got flagged and pulled off to the side in that short window. Here I always figured you just hand the keys to a driver and it shows up somewhere else, but seeing it live made me get why people fuss so much over photos and condition reports. Those little scrapes and door dings are getting checked at every stop, not just at pickup. Now I understand why my brother in law was so worked up when his truck showed up with a scratch that was not in the pictures. Anybody here ever go watch your car get loaded or dropped off in person? Did it change how you handle the paperwork after?
