Boss told me to sign off a squawk I never saw, and I walked out. Who was right?
Two weeks ago at a hangar in Reno I got sent to a jet with a landing gear light issue. I spent 4 hours chasing a short in the harness and found nothing wrong. My lead came over and said just sign it off, it's probably a sensor glitch. I said no. He said everyone does it. I told him I'm not putting my name on something I didn't see, grabbed my bag, and went home. Next morning the FAA showed up because a different plane from our shop had the same issue and it wasn't a glitch. Do you sign it off when the boss pushes, or do you hold the line even if it costs you the shift?
