PSA: swapped my old crimpers for a ratcheting pair last week and I'm kicking myself for waiting 4 years
Spent 4 years fighting flaky pin connections on the flight line at KVNY with a pair of cheap hand crimpers that kept giving me partial crimps, then finally grabbed a ratcheting set off the truck and knocked out a full harness in 20 minutes with zero rework, so what's the one tool you all held onto way too long before finally upgrading?
My old man ran a Cessna 172 for 22 years out of a grass strip in Kansas and swore by this crusty pair of crimpers he bought at a farm auction for 3 bucks. Every annual he'd cuss at a random radio wire and redo the same 3 pins over and over. I finally bought him a ratcheting set for Christmas in 2019 and he acted like I handed him a rock. Two weeks later he called me just to say he'd done his whole panel in an afternoon without one bad pin. He still has the farm auction pair hanging on the wall though, just for looks.
