Just realized my 3 day loop in the Wind River Range was 40 miles, not the 28 I planned for
I sat next to a guy at the trailhead near Pinedale who was studying the same map and he mentioned the Cirque of the Towers detour adds way more than it looks on paper. I brushed it off, then spent the last day walking in the dark because my mileage math was off by 12 miles. Turns out the switchbacks around Texas Pass eat up hours you never see coming. Anyone else get burned by paper mileage versus what your feet actually do out there?
