Coworker told me my emails were too stiff, changed how I write

Last week my manager said my emails sounded like a robot wrote them, all formal and no personality. I started adding one personal sentence or a quick joke at the end, and now people actually reply faster. Has anyone else changed their writing style after feedback like that?

Honestly, I read somewhere that adding a bit of personality to work emails actually makes people trust you more. Makes sense to me since it's way easier to reply to someone who sounds human instead of a textbook. Glad ditching the robot vibe is working out for you.

My last name is Stone so you'd think I'd be good at keeping things cold and professional, but nope, I end up rambling about my dog in half my replies, Mary @mary_schmidt. Makes sense though, I'd rather email someone who sounds like they'd laugh at a dad joke than a corporate bot.
