Vent: A flat tire in the rain outside a gas station in Toledo completely flipped my day.

I was soaked and ready to lose it, but the clerk gave me free coffee and a dry spot to sit while I waited for the tow. Do you think small acts of kindness from strangers are more meaningful than big gestures from people you know?

Totally get what mason.cole means about those small lifelines. Last winter my car died in a grocery store lot and some random guy in a beat-up truck jumped it for me, didn't even want cash for coffee. It's weird how a stranger's help when you're stranded just sticks with you, maybe because there's zero expectation behind it.

Small kindnesses hit different when you're having a bad day. A stranger's help can feel like a real lifeline.
