Bought a $4 "vintage" fondue fork set at Goodwill and now I'm mad at myself
So I grabbed this box of fondue forks at the Goodwill on 5th for $4 last weekend because it had this cool wooden handle situation going on. Took them home, washed them, and stuck one in the toaster to dry it off, which yeah, stupid move I know. The handle started smoking and then literally caught fire in like 20 seconds. Turns out the metal part was fine but whatever coating was on that wood was not meant for heat at all. I stood there holding a flaming fork over my sink feeling like a total idiot. Learned my lesson about testing mystery thrift store stuff before trusting it. Has anyone else almost burned their kitchen down over a dollar bin find?
