PSA: checked my $3 thrift store lamp for a real UL sticker before plugging it in, and wow
Bought a little desk lamp at the Goodwill on my lunch break for $3 mostly because of the shape. Got it home and noticed the sticker on the bottom just said "UL Listed" in a font that looked off, so I compared it to a real one on my blender. The letters were squished wrong and there was no file number, which apparently means nobody actually tested it. Now I'm out $3 and wondering how many of these cheap lamps are floating around out there. Does anyone actually check for a real sticker, or do you just plug stuff in and hope?
