Heat gun on old frame decals saved me 2 hours of scraping

Spent a whole afternoon with a razor blade on a vintage steel frame in Denver, then tried a cheap heat gun on the next one and the decals came off in one clean sheet. Anyone else use heat for stubborn stickers or is there a better solvent trick I'm missing?

and honestly the heat gun trick works even better if you hit the decal with a sharp plastic scraper right after you peel the top layer off. The adhesive stays soft for a few seconds and just rolls off instead of leaving that sticky film behind. I've also found that heating from the back side of the frame works miracles on older bikes with those thick clear coat layers over the decals. You melt the glue without scorching the paint on the front. For the really stubborn stuff, a little rubbing alcohol on a rag after the heat clears off the residue way faster than any solvent I've tried. WD-40 works too but it leaves an oily mess you have to clean off before you can repaint. Just don't crank the heat up too high or you'll bubble the clear coat and turn a two hour job into a full repaint.
