TIL my odometer hit 2,000 commuter miles and I did the math on what it saved me
Honestly I never kept track of mileage until my bike computer rolled over 2,000 miles last Tuesday on the ride into work. I sat down with a calculator and figured out that at my car's 27 mpg and gas around $3.40 here in Sacramento, I skipped about $250 in fuel since January. But the weird part is the time, I actually get to work 5 minutes faster on the bike because I skip the parking garage line on N Street. Ngl that number is what finally got my coworker to ask about my route, so has anyone else tracked fuel savings and had it come out smaller than expected?
Skipping the garage line on N Street is the real savings here, the $250 is just a bonus prize nobody asked for. Gas math always sounds better in your head until the calculator brings you back down to earth lol. Saving time and money at the same time is a pretty rare combo, so take the win.
